Zumiez Abandons Pursuit of West 49
7/14/2010 - Zumiez Inc. said it was ending its takeover pursuit of West 49 Inc., leaving the path open for Billabong International Ltd. to continue its deal to buy the Canadian action-sports retailer. Zumiez said it couldn`t agree to the terms of the due diligence with West 49.

U.S. retail sales fall 0.5% in June
7/14/2010 - Sales at U.S. retailers declined 0.5% in June to a seasonally adjusted $360.2 billion, the Commerce Department estimated Wednesday, further evidence that the economy has slowed. Sales fell for the second straight month after seven consecutive increases. Sales fell an upwardly revised 1.1% in May.

7/13/2010 - Chain-store sales for the week ended July 10 rose 3.2% from the year-earlier period, according to a survey released Tuesday by the International Council of Shopping Centers and Goldman Sachs. On a week-over-week basis, sales fell 1.5% after two weekly gains.

7/13/2010 - Levi Strauss & Co reported an increase in sales as its namesake brand won back shoppers looking for more affordable jeans, but results were dampened by the costs of refinancing debt. Revenue was up 8 percent in the Americas region, which includes in the United States, also up 8 percent in Asia, and was up 9 percent in Europe.
